About Puente

Puente is a four year, college preparatory program, sponsored by the UC Center for Educational Partnerships.  The mission of Puente is to increase the number of educationally underserved students who enroll in four-year universities, earn degrees, and return to the community as leaders and mentors to future generations.  Puente is open to all students.  The Puente Language Arts curriculum integrates multicultural literature and prepares students for college-level reading and writing.  Puente students stay in the English class with the same students and teachers for four years.  Puente students work closely with the Puente counselor to prepare and adhere to an academic plan focused on college readiness.  Students participate in a variety of college and career themed workshops, social activities, college visits, and cultural field trips.  Parent participation in Puente activities and quarterly meetings is important to student success in the program.
