A&E Academy Requirements

The A&E Academy begins during the student's sophomore year and will remain in the academy for the duration of the student's high school career. In order to remain in the academy and graduate with the A&E Academy medal there are a few requirements:
 
  1. Eligible to participate in the C.H.S. graduation ceremony.
  2. Complete the following career technical courses:
    • 10th grade - Intro to Engineering Design (IED)
    • 11th grade - Architectural Design 1
    • 12th grade - Engineering Graphics 2 - OR - Architectural Design & Graphics 2
  3. Complete all required academy projects: 
    • Sophomore Career Project
    • Sophomore Research Project
    • Junior Research Project
  4. Complete 75 hours of community service throughout the 3 years of being in the academy; or
    • Take a ROP class for one year (must end with a "B" or better grade) + 30 hours of community service; or
    • Complete a pre-approved college class with "C" or better; or
    • Complete a pre-approved internship; or
    • Work experience (5 credits required; 40 hours = 1 credit)
