Technology Used by Our Faculty

Aeries

Aeries is the chosen grading program for WUHSD. Students and parents alike may monitor their progress in any class, including assignments, grades and comments made by teachers.

 

Student Moodle 

Student Moodle is an online site designed to facilitate contact between students and teachers. Here students have the ability to download homework assignments and other resources. Additionally, they may turn in electronic copies of assignments directly to their teacher’s Moodle account. Please check with individual teachers for specific instructions on how to access their information.

 

YouTube

YouTube is an online based video sharing website that our department is using to assign homework and projects. Moreover, the site is also being used to expose students to innovative and creative grammar and cultural lessons.

 

Google Drive

Google drive is a cloud storage service that allows for the storage of documents, photos and videos. From Google Drive, World Language teachers are using various Google programs, such as Google Docs and Google Voice, to assign homework and projects.

 

Class Dojo 

Class Dojo is a behavior monitoring program which allows language teachers, students and parents to keep track of oral participation in the target language and general behavior.

 

Blogs

As a method of collaborating and improving teaching skills, members of the department participate in educative blogs, including Latin Best Practices and Ben Slavic.

 

Podcasts

World Language teachers create digital files for students, called podcasts. These files serve as how-to homework help and as study guides which students have access to via their teacher’s website.

 

Microsoft Office

All of the teachers in the department actively use Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and/or Word as teaching resources and as programs in which students need to complete assignments in.

 

Screen Casting

Screen casting is a digital recording image used to create how-to videos that parents and students have access to. These videos provide step by step instructions for navigating programs used by teachers, such as Aeries and Class Dojo.

 

Spanish Avancemos Textbook Websites

The Avancemos websites provides students with extra practices opportunities and additional resources outside the classroom. With the use of @Home Tutor, students can complete extra practice grammar and vocabulary tasks. Additionally, students have access to additional instructional resources like Animated Grammar, Conjuguemos.com, games, news, webquests and more. Moreover, students  use their level’s website to download such resources as: audio files, customized progress reports, practice quizzes and vocabulary lists.

 

Nearpod

Nearpod is an interactive lesson presentation program designed to allow teachers to engage students in real time. Teachers also use the program as a student response method for open ended questions and quizzes.

 

Internet

We use the internet and numerous websites as resources to improve and promote student understanding of grammar, vocabulary and culture. These tools are also used to help students develop listening, reading and writing skills in the target language.
